May Snub Postal Use Creates Rate Hike Fallout
The Postal Service warns large users may drop mail if judge Wenner's rate recommendations take effect. Lower first class rate to 8 1/2 cents and higher rates for parcels, printed matter, and bulk mail could push business mailers away, shifting costs to remaining first class mailers and raising taxpayer burden. Hearings begin July 7 with a final ruling in summer. temporary rate increases expected later this year.
