Laurel Blooms Across Penn as Mountain Laurel Peaks
Foresters report mountain laurel blooming extensively across Pennsylvania this year. The state flower forms pinkish red blossoms on green foliage, with peak timing rolling northward from late May toward June, depending on weather and location. The shrub thrives from dry rocky hillsides to swamps, and the General Assembly designated it the state flower twenty years ago, with the Department of Forests and Waters safeguarding wild plants from pickers without landowner permission.
