Largest Car High School Alumni Fete Draws 890 Attendees
The annual alumni banquet and dance at Car High School drew an estimated 890 attendees, the largest turnout yet. Officers elected include B Taggart president and Mrs. William Gumbleton first vice president, with Frank Grice Jp second vice president, Ethel Matthews treasurer, and Desmond secretary. Sidney Elston and Arthur Litz were re elected trustees of the Virgil G Curtis fund. Catherine Slone of 1892 was first to answer the roll call and won the Georgia Ayers Myers floral award. Ralph Jewell, Midland Pa superintendent, attended for the first time since graduating in 1922. The Corry Area High School Chorus performed portions of My Fair Lady between meals and dancing, directed by H. Lynn Rice. Mrs. Merritt Hunt and staff served a turkey dinner. Names of returning alumni are listed in the guest book.
