Sharp Industrial Production Jump Surprises Economists
Washington AP reports a 0.7% May rise in the Federal Reserve industrial production index, the sharpest since GM strike settlement. Economists warn it does not prove a rapid expansion, though Treasury official Murray Weidenbaum calls it encouraging as production gains reflect output per hour and early stockpiling. Auto output rose 5% over April.

Two Bills Left Hanging As Pa Senate Adjourns
The Pennsylvania Senate adjourned for the weekend with two near vote bills left in limbo. One would let 18-year-olds vote in state and municipal elections and cut residency rules. the other would shrink legislative districts by 1976. Senate President pro tempore Lesler noted House passage was needed first. The chamber did advance a bill to gradually transfer local penal costs to the state. Other actions included youth hunting, liquor fund-raiser permits, and reapportionment funding.
