Washington June 15 Senate Democrats predict defeat for Huey P. Long if he pushes his “above the wealth” pension idea into Roosevelt’s social security program. Long proposes an $80 monthly pension for all over 60 funded by wealth taxes. He denounces payroll taxes and state cost sharing as political ploys, while administration forces consider changes to the existing program.
A Flag Day program in Corry featured the Corry Lodge of Elks and the American Legion post 865 with attendees from Sons of the American Legion Boy Scouts D A R and VFW along with Spanish American War veterans and G A R members. The program opened with a patriotic medley by the Community Ensemble and an illustrated lecture on history of the flag with assistance from local figures.

George Berg of Erie becomes Buffalo division freight agent, with a 1907 railroad career and prior clerical and traffic roles in Buffalo, Erie and Cleveland. M P Kenny of Wheeling rounds out the moves, with prior general freight department service in St. Louis and later postings in Chicago Grand Rapids Detroit and Wheeling. Promotions take effect tomorrow.
June 15 police spread a city dragnet for Ray Kunselman 23 sought for slaying Dorothy Virginia Horne 19 of Washington Pa found murdered near that city early Thursday after the couple visited several night spots near Washington First reports said he headed toward Erie from Slippery Rock when a physician informed state police of a man taken to Grove City for treatment in an alleged attempt to mislead investigators.
Four youths and a North East woman were injured in a one vehicle wreck near Findley Lake at about 5 AM. Driver Murray Bliss 22 and Murray 28 suffered facial and body injuries. Miss Kathleen Williams 20 and Mrs Howard Walton 40s were treated for bruises and shock. The LaSalle coupe rolled off the highway after being struck by another car that fled the scene.
Mexico City June 15 Press dispatch reports Lázaro Cárdenas dismissing the cabinet in a bold challenge to Gen Plutarco Elías Calles. The move signals a political crisis within the ruling party with party executive resigning and a new cabinet expected over the weekend. Two writers marry in Budapest linking American dramatist Robert Sherwood and Madeline Hurlock Connelly.
