A large audience attended the Junior High promotion exercises at quia High School. Principal Harold Wolfe led the event as 121 students move to Senior High next September. Mrs. Thomas Garber wife of Union City mayor Gardner escaped serious injury when an old 29 calibre revolver discharged at their attic bureau. Two Men Die In Illinois Plane Crash Near Walbridge
A small Chicago monoplane crashed near Walbridge on Thursday killing Capt. M. M. Rubser and C. F. Kuhsus of the Illinois National Guard who piloted the craft for Thomas F. White. Capt. Rubser died instantly, Kuhsus died at 12:30 after reaching a hospital. White sustained only minor injuries and gave the account of the crash.

Mine blast claims two in Cambridge Collieries disaster
A dynamite blast at the Cambridge Collieries Co coal mine entry near here killed 58 year old Andy Meschrehtle of Belleyatley Ohio and badly hurt 48 year old Mike Eyait of Mackaburg. The incident occurred today as rescue and investigation teams arrived at the scene.

Pennsylvania Units Begin Summer Camp at Gretna and Nearby Sites
Company A and other units of the 112th Infantry Pennsylvania National Guard will start a two week encampment at Mount Gretna on July 25, continuing to August 22. Other units including the 28th Division, 109th Motor Transport, and 105th Wagon Company join. Mt Gretna opens July 11 and Middletown and Tobyhanna camps run concurrently. This may be the last year at these camps before Indiantown Gap becomes the site for 1992 training.

Sixty Fifth Wedding Anniversary for Mr and Mrs Casler
The sixty fifth wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Oliver Casler of Corry was celebrated yesterday afternoon at their East Frederick street home. Twenty four members of the Women’s Relief Corps and other guests attended a noon dinner. Guests included Peter Casler of Sherrist and his daughter Mrs Woods, Mrs Pool and Mrs Wynt, with three Casler children named among the attendees. The couple have been residents of Corry for over forty years after moving from Columbus township where they were married. A deceased daughter in law was noted. Baskets of gifts were given in their honor.
