Surplus Food Items Distribution At East Washington Armory

Eleven surplus food items will be distributed Tuesday evening at the Armory on East Washington Street from 7 to 9 p.m. Clarence Farrington, program administrator, announced recertification will occur this Tuesday due to the Centennial starting July 1. Officials will collect income, family size, and current address in alphabetical order by last initial. One member households should check their ID card back to confirm eligibility this month. New applicants must bring Social Security cards. Commodities include peanut butter butter lard dried milk rice beans flour corn meal dried eggs pork and gravy and oatmeal.

Youth Nabbed With Stolen Auto

An in-year-old Westfield youth identified as August D. Rossier is charged with stealing a car from Harold B. Howard of East Springfield. He was later apprehended by Corry State Police for speeding on Route 19 and placed in a Lawrence police barracks. He was fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a waiting home as authorities assess charges given his age.
