In Concord New Hampshire two brothers aged six and four along with a neighborhood playmate four years old suffocated after entering a home freezer in a West Concord apartment. A dangling light chain sparked the tragedy as rescuers used mouth to mouth and oxygen in a bid to revive the children. The victims were Keith Loughry six Glen Loughty four and Williamitt four. Mrs Thomas Loughty and neighbor Beverly Ezounis aided a search of the area while a neighbor reported seeing the children near the freezer location. Firefighters and police arrived and spent an hour attempting resuscitation with no success.

In Butler Pa a 65 year old grandmother Mae H Wheeler was jailed on 117 embezzlement counts after authorities say she diverted more than 380000 from the Butler Workingmen's Building & Loan Association where she served as secretary treasurer for two decades. Wheeler earlier faced a 5014 shortage but investigators now report a larger scheme. She pleaded innocent and was rearrested with a 40000 bond. The case highlights a long running fraud at the financial coop.

Five more Freedom Riders arrived by train in Jackson and were immediately arrested for breach of peace as police ordered four whites and one Negro girl to leave the white waiting room at Illinois Central station. The city court had sentenced 21 riders the day before to two months in jail and $200 fines for breach of peace after their arrival by air, train, and bus.
Dr W Vaughn Lewis, 54, of Cambridge and visiting geography professor at the University of Chicago, was killed yesterday in a car trailer truck collision near Dewitt. The victim held ties to the University of England and Cambridge institutions, and the authorities are investigating the wreck.

A corry state police report details a two vehicle crash on Route 377 six miles south of Corry. Donald N Mull 21 escaped serious injury after his truck ran off the road struck a culvert and overturned. damage estimated at 225 dollars to the truck and 465 dollars to the mall, delaying Corry Post Office operations about an hour.
