Bell Aircraft Texas division explores a wing shaped fuselage helicopter with rotors at each end and engines inside the wings. The design promises lower fuel use and maintenance with possible 20 to 50 passenger layouts and 250 to 300 mile intercity ranges. Early models use two piston engines. later could use gas turbines.

Heavy Winnipeg Fire Ravages Downtown Buildings
A fierce blaze on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg destroyed three large office blocks and multiple businesses, fueled by 70 mph winds from the northwest. Estimated damage reached two million dollars. Fire crews labored seven hours to control the inferno. one firefighter was injured as the Time Building collapsed to rubble, possibly due to a short circuit in an electric sign.

Registration set for college courses at Chautauqua center
July 5 registration from 9 to 4 p.m at the Syracuse University office Hall of pEauseiae Chautauqua for 12 education courses. A second day is July 26 for students taking only the final three weeks.
