In Erie Judge Miles Kitts sentenced Andrew J. Macauley and Albert Schaefer after guilty pleas to fraudulent conversion and drawing and issuing worthless checks. Schaefer faces up to four years at the Western Penitentiary while Macauley received four months at the Allegheny County Workhouse. Four other charges against Schaefer were held to future action if he commits further crimes after release from prison.
Franklin Pa June 8 during a lashing storm lightning hit HA Smith Oak Hill overlooking French Creek valley. Bricks and chimney damaged a kitchen, a picture sailed across the room, and Mrs. Smith was shocked but not seriously injured. Sunday services listed for local churches follow.

The annual meeting of The First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston elected Mrs. Margareth Murney Glen Matters GSB of New York as president to succeed George Shaw Cook GSB. She is the daughter of the late Major General Edwin F. Glenn and has a background in music and Christian Science practice.
An amicable settlement of a suit for 2872.60 filed by Ray and Lenore Vinh on behalf of their minor daughter Geraldine Finn was registered. Defendants are William McClain and Leo McCabe. Miss Finn suffered serious injuries including a fractured jaw in a collision at 2th Street and Cemetery Road on November 14, 1939, with McClain alleged as operator of a car owned by Am brosé McCabe.
