Blair Cannot Reinstate Withdrawal From Race
Erie County state legislator Stanley L. Blair remains withdrawn after a Wednesday ruling by the state Elections Bureau. Blair, 61, of Albion, had tried to withdraw before the April primary but won the Republican nomination and appeared on the Democratic ballot as a write-in. Russell Welsh said no withdrawal can be reversed, and Blair must accept the party’s choice of successor, with Hayes or Merry competing. The Crawford County GOP plans to appoint a substitute by August 22, with district committee members voting in that process.
