In Medina Ohio on June 6 the parents of 23 year old Harold Mast urged Gov Frank Lausche to spare the life of 19 year old killer Jay Billinger sentenced to die June 16 in the electric chair for Mast’s shotgun slaying on October 5. Billinger testified he killed Mast for accomplice Max Amerman who was involved with Mast’s war bride Randi Amerman. Amerman, convicted of first degree murder, faces execution August 15. Mrs Mast testified she had a relationship with Amerman during her husband’s absence. Otis Houghtaling exhibited trained animals in Buffalo for a seven day Glen Park engagement.

The Internal Revenue Bureau intensifies a tax drive in northwestern Pennsylvania targeting nearly 100 racketeers and gamblers. P. J. Gallagher says 17 to 24 agents work around the clock to ensure all racketeers pay taxes and related obligations. About 30 names are Eriteni. others are county and neighboring residents as authorities check income taxes Social Security and withholdings in legitimate and illegitimate dealings.
