Secretary of State Acheson testified that allied nations vetoed a U S plan for two to three minutes of hot pursuit into Manchuria to chase enemy planes, while warning of potential air incursions from Manchurian bases. Benneglyvilh, Miss, June 5. A 16-year-old youth from Brookville, Pa, is charged with murder in the death of farmer Mrs. Mtta R. McConnell. Police say the youth confessed to knowledge of the killing after being arrested yesterday by officers. The victim was shot last April 9, and investigators tied the case to the Brookville area.
A massive fire swept a two story building in Passaic early yesterday destroying or badly damaging a dozen businesses including a delicatessen, a lunch counter, and a grocery. Fire officials estimated the loss at around one million dollars and warned the total could rise as more damage is assessed. Several firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation. no fatalities were reported.
