Highway project to widen Route 8 affects rail lines near Eclipse refinery

A $14 million highway plan to connect Franklin and Reno will remove over four miles of railroad track along a hillside east of the former Eclipse refinery so Route 8 can be widened to four lanes. The change affects tracks of the New York Central and Erie railroads bordering Route 8 at that point. The first stop for the evening drive is McConnell's Restaurant in Columbus Y.
