Full Crew Law Blocked by Dauphin Court Injunction
The Pennsylvan ia Railroad obtained a preliminary restraining order in Dauphin county court preventing immediate enforcement of the full crew law. The act, signed by Gov. George H. Edwards, would add brakemen on long trains to boost state employment by about 4500, but the railroad contends it burdens interstate commerce and exceeds state police power.

Changes Proposed in Beer and Liquor Laws by Legislature
Several amendment bills before the legislature push changes to liquor and fee laws. Provisions restore package sales in cities with up to 10,000 annual gross, in other areas 5,000, strike out a repeater clause allowing theaters and similar venues to sell liquor, and permit referenda near the 1937 primary. Proposals also remove high school education requirements for board employment, let communities set closing hours to 12:30 or 2 a.m., and grant veterans a 5 percent advantage in exams for liquor board jobs.

New York dispatch reports retailers expect improved June sales to offset weak April and May results. Preliminary data show year over year gains under ten percent for both months as weather and rising prices influence demand. Despite softer early summer, executives anticipate a solid June if volumes rise enough to match last year’s peak when veterans bonuses boosted消费.
