The Rev J B Edwards 62, died Tuesday at his home in New Wilmington after a long illness. Born in Jamestown Mercer County, he taught in Emlenton schools three years, led Emlenton Methodist church until 1937, then served as pastor in New Wilmington.

Four children narrowly escaped death when lightning struck a large dairy barn at Clintonville on Wednesday afternoon. The bolt caused a fire that destroyed the barn and its contents. Eugene Kenneth and Fred Martin and Dale Martin, grandson of the owner, were milking the cows when struck. Kenneth was thrown from the doorway. Fred and Eugene received shocks to the arms and neck. The event occurred during milking in the stable.
