Holiday heat and accidents dot Corry scene
A fragmented Corry newspaper page reports a false fire alarm at Aero Supply plant, a $225 raffle win at a lawn festival, poor trout season prospects, Walt Arman’s Minstrels at Rex Theatre, a high school band concert, and remarks on D. Warren Destosy’s Europe trip. It notes a misfortune at Fairview school stone, a fire department meeting, a minor street theft, likely pay day for the relief army, stock market shifts, and heat casualties at Mount Gretna and Indiantown Gap. Also covers injuries from a garden pump incident, a near drowning at Ganadohta Lake, and a young priest’s first Miss at Corry links. Residents faced pay deadlines and weekend crowds at Duke resorts amid heat.
