Organized labor wins key steel code provision retraction
United Press reports organized labor aided by the Recovery Administration won a major victory when the steel industry withdrew a proposed code provision aimed at limiting collective bargaining to company unions. The action followed pressure from labor leaders and a contrasting stance by steel executives led by Robert Lamont. The discussion centered on wage floors and a 40 hour work week, with Southern mills expected to set higher pay figures.
