Milk Price Rise Expected For Erie and Crawford Counties

Erie and Crawford dairy groups have won the state milk control board’s support for an approximate two cent rise in consumer milk prices. Producers say current prices of about $3 per hundred for 3.5 milk fail to cover higher costs, aiming for about $4.25, with the potential two cent per quart pass through to shoppers. Leaders warned that without the higher costs, a federal intervention may be sought and a milk shortage could follow.
