Wattsburg residents will gather at the Wattsburg Hose Company Social Hall on Wednesday at 8 p.m. Doctors Hipps and Kopycinski will outline a satellite medical office plan using Physician's Assistants to bring primary care closer to home. The proposal, already tested in Albion, would staff a Wattsburg clinic six days a week with an assistant and office staff, with doctor visits available regularly. Erie County reports about 1,800 junked vehicles removed under the state funded program led by county planner Chris Capotis. The initiative, the only one of its kind in the state, coordinates county officials, local associations, and the Pennsylvania Department of Community Affairs to eliminate blighted cars and encourages municipalities to adopt ordinances to remove abandoned vehicles at owners’ expense.
Nairobi report says Ugandan President Idi Amin fled his Kampala headquarters Saturday night as troops approached and firing erupted. The Standard cites a Kampala correspondent noting Amin vanished into darkness as crowds fled. The Defense Council reportedly overruled his leave of absence move amid unclear mutinies rumors. Amin accused Kenya of an economic blockade that crippled Uganda’s fuel supply for five days and warned of desperate action.
