Seven States Challenge Postal Rate in Court Fight
The Postal Service faces a potential financial setback if seven states led by Maine seek to overturn the 13 cent first class rate. Attorney General Joseph Brennan argues the cost to mail a first class letter is less, urging a return to a lower rate as the case proceeds at the Court of Appeals after a district court ruling. Other states and groups have cases challenging postal pricing, with potential daily losses if a rollback occurs. Separately, judges in Corry see pay raises scheduled for Sept. 16, and three suspects in a drug store burglary in Corry Plaza were bound over to Erie County court.
