City Council votes on water well bid leases and street repairs
The council approved bids to begin a new city water well and to repair and resurface streets. It accepted bids for asphalt emulsion and crushed limestone, and awarded a $700,000 five year loan with National Bank. They approved a one day lease of the old laundromat property on West Main. Area Boy 7 Hurt In Barn Fall
A 7-year-old Spring Creek boy, Jeffrey Kellogg, fell about 10 feet through a barn hole onto a cement floor while trying to remove sawdust. He was found by his brother and taken to Cory Memorial Hospital then transferred to St. Vincent Health Center in serious but improving condition and remained in intensive care.

May Not Need Helmet Under Motor Vehicle Code Bill
Harrisburg AP reports a bill advancing in the ae bil would exempt motorcyclists over 18 from helmet use with a 178 to 16 vote and send the measure to the Senate. The amendment also paves the way for studded snow tires until after April 1978. Only holders of junior licenses or learner permits would be required to wear helmets. The change aligns with federal law.
