July 17 near Silver Creek two deaths reported when a 10 year old boy fell from a bridge abutment into Hallarmgus Creek. Charles Josey Carrow of Orchard Park and Kenneth Carrow, his brother, witnessed the accident as Charles fell while fishing. Charles drowned after tripping on a pipe. Kenneth attempted rescue as the body count rose to three in the county.
Harrisburg July 17 The Public Utility Commission authorized the Erie Railroad to install automatic crossing protection at Union City with gates lights and bells plus pedestrian safeguards. Watchmen will operate signals from a tower 11 am to 1 pm daily except Sundays. Completion of earlier Lincoln street work referenced.
