Airport Fond Accounting Is Now Complete
Dr. Harry Rhodes leader of the Civil Air Patrol group presented a detailed report on $2943.68 in funds raised to aid Lawrence Airport development. With city ownership not possible the plan shifted to Mr. Thomas retaining ownership while CAP funds paid for grading and runway extensions. Refunds of $460 were offered and all other expenditures amounted to $2,480.29. The project began in December 1941 as airports closed during war entry and aims to reopen and develop the port with public support justifying the effort.

War outlook grim but Babson stays bullish on stocks

He notes scarce goods, continued food demand, and prices rising 15 percent above prewar levels, with WWII ending likely by early 1945 and peacetime adjustments ahead.
