The salvage tug Palega started blowing water from the sunken submarine Squalsus off Portsmouth New Hampshire to lift it. After delays for an air hose and towing hawser check operations chart the ascent and use seven large pontoons chained to the sub to force water free.

Funeral Services for Walter Lewis in Pine Grove Cemetery
Committal services were held Wednesday at 2:80 p.m. at Pine Grove cemetery for Walter Lewis formerly of Corry who died Sunday in Watertown New York after a short illness. Rev Willian J Kuhn officiated. Bearers were Joseph and John Lewis Erie Jon Clancy Philadelphia and E Whittlesey Corry. Family accompanied the body from Watertown. Friends from Petroleum Center Titusville and Erie attended. Miss Clara Leo Gowill 82 a Titusville resident and longtime resident died of infirmities of age. An attempted break in at a filling station in Oll City was stopped a passing motorist Royal Grimm reported seeing a man flee from the Esso service station no items reported missing window damaged.
