Continued lag in interest of voters seen
Erie July 11 No more interest will be shown by the voters of Erie county in election day than on the primary day May 19, predicted by Joseph G Williams head of the registration office. Eligible voters are leaving the city and county for service in the armed forces, creating a serious gap in registration. Many remain at home working in plants for the war program, shifts vary, and apathy persists toward the November election unless conditions change. He noted 76 603 eligible in Erie County on May 19 but only 18 070 voted, well under 2 percent of the register.
