Price controls face peril as farm bloc seeks limits
Washington July 13 The Senate debated a $1.858 billion price control appropriation directing the Office of Price Administration. Leon Henderson warned farm price limits would cripple anti inflation measures by forcing studies of thousands of items before ceilings could be set. Senator Wagner called the issue pivotal for home front costs and war materiel profits. The bill also embeds a 31.5 cent per gallon gasoline price rise in 17 rationed states, affecting pipeline supplies and tanker costs.
