County to Cut Nine Mill Tax Levy Next Year
July county meeting indicated the nine mill tax rate will be slashed by at least a half mill next year as county finances improve. Commissioner Rollo McCray urged that, barring unforeseen events, a reduction is possible in 1935. Last year the poor fund spent about 4600,000 of revenue plus 800,000 debt, now paid via bonds, and this year the poor fund will receive 250,000 to 277,000. The board has operated within appropriation and expects to continue doing so.
