Meteor Flash Seen Across Four States
A spectacular light in the western sky from California to Utah is thought to be a meteor entering the atmosphere. Wendell McDavid of Griffith Planetarium Observatory notes reports from Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Kingman, Nevada, and St George. He cautions confirmation is pending but suggests the object was larger than a car and the “explosions” are likely burning debris. If it struck Earth it would probably be cold.
