Delinquent motorists who have not obtained the $5 federal automobile tax stamps may be cut off from gasoline as authorities plan action at stations. Postmaster Sullivan reports about 1,900 stamps redeemed by last night, compared with 2,700 a year ago, amid a year’s total of about 6,000 stamps sold locally.
A grand Independence Day celebration in Corry is planned with a 10 a.m. parade forming on West Main and First Avenue. Costumed leaders in American history will headline a procession stretching toward City Park. The day continues with a 1:30 p.m. city band concert and a 3 p.m. aerial act by Nelson Brothers as part of July’s buy fighter bonds campaign.
