Senior High Tower Struck by Lightning
Workmen repairing the Senior High School building reported the tower struck by lightning in a severe storm. The strike twisted the weather vane, tore slate from the roof, and damaged interior construction. Estimated damage $400 to $500. A delay in repairs that day may have saved lives as workers were not in the tower during the storm. Nearby North Corry saw two homes struck but no serious injuries. The storm was among Corry’s worst in years.

Rivers Harbors Bill Faces New Attack
United Press dispatch from Washington reports the rivers and harbors bill facing renewed opposition as critics decry its departure from a 20 year policy. The measure, potentially the biggest ever, faces costs estimated between 120 and 240 million dollars and marks a shift from army engineers approval before inclusion in legislation. Senator Vandenberg warns the bill sets a dangerous precedent and proposes tighter rules against nonengineered items.
