In Wheaton Maryland a woman fatally shot her three teenaged children and then killed herself. Police identified the victims as Mrs Takagi, her married daughter Mrs Gloria Howard, 17, and 1 year old twins Donna and Danny. The Takagi twins were killed in the Takagi home while Mrs Howard and Mrs Takagi were found dead in the kitchen of Mrs Howard’s home. Mrs Takagi, American wife of Japanese pediatrician Dr Yas Takagi of NIH, was from a former marriage of the children’s mother.
Pittsburgh report says U S District Court Judge Rabe F Marsh denied Stuart Sutor of Hialeah Ma a freedom plea while he remains in prison for five years after a 1961 conviction for conspiring to smuggle guns to Fidel Castro in 1953.
Evelyn Rothman 24 of Los Angeles was killed when her scarf tangled in a ski rope at a lodge beside a Salt Lake City area resort. Officials said her husband Dr Ronald Rothman was present as guests at the lodge during the incident.
San Diego AP reports midnights strike deadline looming as negotiators rush to avert a nationwide walkout by NABTE and related unions against American Broadcasting Co and National Broadcasting Co. Union says wage and jurisdiction gaps remain wide, while ABC NBC claim enough supervisory staff can keep programs on air if a strike occurs. The action would begin simultaneously in New York Washington Philadelphia and San Francisco if needed.
