Fire at Dawn Donut Bakery 627 Prendergast Avenue in Jamestown gutted the shop and damaged the neighboring Prendergast Grocery and a rooming house. Estimated losses include 7000 dollars overall with 2000 dollar equipment loss and 1000 dollar contents damage in adjoining residence. Fire under control by 12 45 p m with crews remaining one hour. Owners Melvin J Brovelle and Clarence Bordbere insured.

Robert Williams five year old son of Mr and Mrs Howard J Williams of 1074 Mohawk Street Franklin Park was fatally burned when his clothing ignited near an Irilelion stove. He died at Hamot Hospital about an hour and a half after the accident. The mother heard his screams and neighbors rushed him to the hospital. Authorities noted a piece of paper he held may have caught fire and caused the ignition.
