A grand jury in New York returns indictments in the 1926 Brotherhood Savings and Trust theft case. Charles Knapp, his wife Mia Knapp, Benjamin Diamond, and Lao Gallagher face charges connected to a securities theft and mail and bank robbery conspiracy. Knapp and his wife were arrested. Diamond posted bail and Gallagher expected to appear at arraignment.
Treasury actuaries project a roughly 50 million dollar surplus for the year ending June 30th, assuming receipts and expenditures stay stable. Firemen Dean Way and A W Schuber kept her breathing with oxygen and fluid drainage failed to restore breathing. Yesterday she spoke a whisper and showed signs of improvement as oxygen was continued at intervals with hope of full recovery.
United Press report from Northumberland describes Prince’s tour of distressed mining regions. He notes widespread unemployment, closed mines, ragged children, bare homes, and families subsisting on scant relief while praising local perseverance.

An Elmira jury failed to reach a verdict on whether a Coast Guardsman may fire at a suspected car fleeing a rim run, with Glenn Jennings on trial for manslaughter in the shooting of Jacob Hanson. Judge Hazel had previously directed acquittal for co-defendant Frank Beck.
Harrisburg police hold a man and a woman in connection with the disappearance of Wiig Wornd Klink, a 40 year old candy store manager. Harry B Bowman, 39, a perfume salesman, faces murder and highway robbery charges. Officials say a suicide pact was planned after money for a store purchase could not be obtained.
A Cleveland motorist named Krieg 2 escaped with injuries after a car collided with a culvert west of the city on the Roosevelt highway late Tuesday. The machine suffered extensive front-end damage and was towed to De Forest Buick garage. Another Ohio driver, Cutting, skidded on the same stretch but escaped unhurt.
Ice harvesting begins in this vicinity with 11 to 12 inches of ice at the Whiteley pond on West Columbus Avenue. Mr. Whiteley says ice is exceptionally fine and will yield for ten days or two weeks.
