Erie Youth Dies After Fall From Balcony at Academy
Carl Kennath, 17, of 2111 Peach Street, a top scholastic swimmer at the Academy, fell from a pool balcony about noon, sustaining fatal injuries. He died at St. Vincent's Hospital at 2 p.m. Serious internal injuries were suspected. an autopsy will confirm. Coach Dan Wurzbach and Deputy Coroner Dr. Charles Leone opened separate investigations. Kennath, a four-year varsity swimmer and diving standout, stood on the balcony railing moments before the plunge.

Cleveland County Woman Murder Victim Identified
Florenca Polilla a 42 year old former Platea resident living in Erie at times was found murdered Sunday in Cleveland County. Police suspect a truck driver employed nearby and held for questioning. Investigators released a photograph linking a January 14 disorderly conduct arrest to the victim’s case as they pursue the circumstances of the death. Local tax notes and unrelated items follow.
