Shore Flood Relief Bill Through Pa. Legislature

In Harrisburg the Pennsylvania Legislature moved to aid flood-ravaged areas, approving three million dollars in unusual spending powers and pushing a four bill package for emergency expenditures. The bills authorize the governor to spend up to 2.5 million dollars for the Pittston mine disaster and additional funds for flood relief, water removal, and food control planning as Governor Lawrence orders swift action. Grand Jury Indicts Four Corry Men In Arson Case

A grand jury meeting at the Evie County courthouse returned a true bill charging four Corry area men in an arson case. Robert Bemis and Russell Bemis of Corry and Donald McKuhn of RD 4 were held for trial after a Clark Lindsey farm blaze on Halloween. Merle Hulmes of Warren Street and Ronald Baker of Harborcreek were indicted for related burglaries. a third man has entered a plea.

Drop Reward For Playboy's Killer

The Rubinstein murder reward of 25000 was withdrawn on the fourth anniversary of his death. Serge Rubinstein, a 46 year old playboy and financier, was choked to death in his Fifth Avenue mansion. The police still list the case as open. Estate attorney Stanley N. Zwolnik said the estate is valued at about 14 million dollars.

Coroner rules Stiltz blameless in Switzer slaying

Moses S. Stiltz testified Alfie Switzer shot in self defense after a jackknife threat. Jack Pratt and Iquitier testified a fight with Stiltz occurred after an alcohol incident last Wednesday night. Switzer claimed Stiltz owed him $50. Stiltz denied it.

Corry Chest Elects Officers For Next Year

Corry Community Chest held a meeting at the Raymond plant naming new officers for the coming year. Robert Bracken is president, Frank McKnight vice president, Wayne Berlin secretary, and David Nichols treasurer. The United Fund committee includes Bracken, Rossbacher, and McKnight.
