Erie County officials faced budget requests totaling 2,503,096 after a largely contentious session. Key items include record 1955 budget needs for the institution district, rejection of a 3,000 Lakeview Hospital grant, tentative approval of a new voter file system, return of 175 to Prothonotary Liljenberg for travel, and a 25,000 cut in prisoner maintenance with a 38,000 preliminary reduction overall. A 1954 combined county and district budget was about 2.2 million, with requests roughly 200,000 higher. An unrelated note mentions a seven and a half inch fish reported after a 1952 water spout.
