James McCray 27 of Bowling Green, once a Corry resident, endures police protection as Ohio and federal agents pursue a would‑be killer who shot him at home in December and delivered a 5 to 8 pound explosive package. Paris June 17 Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Vishinsky accused U S Lieutenant General James Van Fleet of blocking armistice negotiations in Korea. He called Van Fleet unacceptable and praised Communist aims while denouncing Western leaders as hypocrites and blood thirsty.
Gov Earl Warren of California told Republicans they cannot turn their backs on social progress to win the November election. He outlined liberal platform planks and warned against socialistic government, addressing a GOP national committee meeting where Taft supporters are active. The state Legislature enacted and Gov John Fine signed a bill repealing pension deductions from unemployment benefits effective January 4 1991 Claimants who had benefits reduced between October 1 and January 4 will be reimbursed automatically Officials urge eligible workers who did not file a claim during that period to apply by February 15 at the local Pennsylvania State Employment Service office and questions should be directed there.
A twin born to Mr and Mrs Harold Messinger at 10 40 pm yesterday at Corry Memorial Hospital died early this morning. The surviving twin is Gary William the other Larry Merle. Survivors include the parents a twin brother a sister Sharon the maternal grandmother Mrs Merle Watraus of Rd 4 and the paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Clyde Messinger of Rd 1 Columbus. A prayer service was held this afternoon at Bracken Keating Funeral Home with Rev H Rey Harris officiating. Interment followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Army authorities investigated a horrific double tragedy at Fort Knox where Lt Joseph P Coonan stabbed his wife and four children to death with a butcher knife before taking poison. Authorities say the mother apparently killed the children then herself, with a stomach poison intake noted in the poison analysis.
