Hoover Plans Florida Trip After Anti War Pact Signing

President elect Hoover will depart Washington for Florida on a special Atlantic coast line train arriving Miami Beach Tuesday afternoon. He will stay about a month at J C Penney estate and return mid February for further conferences before his administration begins.

Reception to Junior Dept at Corry Women's Club

Members of the Corry Women's Club hosted a reception for the Junior Department at the home of Mrs Atlan J Dean. The well lit decorated space featured a pleasant program with soloists, duets, mandolin and banjo performances. Mrs B C Barnes welcomed the Juniors and Miss Lucile House spoke for the juniors. A Dramatic Department sketch followed, with Nellie Wight and Mrs Charles Stewart Laing in key roles. Refreshments ended the evening, and it was announced that Mrs Sipple, president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, would speak at WHAN at 10 that evening.

Attempted break in at warehouse reveals minor theft

Robbers forced entry at a warehouse through a rear window but failed to open the main door. They took a small cash register and a few coins valued at about a dollar. Police investigated later that day, noting no major valuables were found and officers followed leads.

The ninth anniversary of Constitutional Prohibition was celebrated last evening at the Methodist Fyvopal church with enthusiastic attendance. Hon. Jewels stolen in Park Avenue heist worth large sum

In June 77 five gunmen raided a Park Avenue jewelry store in a luxury hotel district, forcing staff to the rear as they looted cases and safes. They escaped on Park Avenue with a haul estimated around 200 000 dollars in precious stones. Police reported one officer restrained during the attack.

Rain Slush and Ice Today Across County

Rain, sleet and freezing rain left sidewalks and streets slushy and icy. Pedestrians faced danger as slippery walks and dangerous grades challenged travelers. State highway crews worked to spread cinders but slipping and washing rain hampered efforts. Allegheny County roads described very slippery and dangerous with icy patches statewide.

Parker Named Manager of Colonel Drake Theatre

Friends in Oli City learned I Manley Parker, formerly Rex theatre manager here, has been named manager of the new Colonel Drake theatre in Oli City. Parker has managed the Versom theatre in Oli City after moving from Warren, and the new venue is described as one of western Pennsylvania’s finest and most modern theatres.

Three New Pneumonia Cases Reported Here

The Board of Health today reported three pneumonia cases: Mrs. Bema Chapin, Mr. Weatherbea, and Mrs. George Bittlebergan. All were removed to Corry hospital. May L. W. Colegrove left this morning for Erle on business.

Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr and Mrs Weeks

Mr and Mrs Frank L Weeks quietly celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at 221 Mott Street on Wednesday. They have lived in Corey for fifty years and were married January 18 1878 in this city. Dr Wallis Weeks and his wife from New York City and Mrs Minas Bogart of Warren visited during the week though illness altered their plans.

First Ward Man Faces Arrest Over Tuberculosis Tests

Frank Wells of Liberty Street faces arrest for refusing tuberculosis tests on his cows, hindering local veterinarians from inspecting cattle. Dr C F Bennett refused entry during visits last week, and a state veterinarian will pursue action. Additional testing in nearby townships is reported advanced. Bennett oversees work in Concord township.

Train Crash in Middletown Kills Three and Injures Five

A B&O train crashed into a section gang near Middletown. Frank Keeliner 27 Shandon was killed, Miles Haney 26 Fostoria died, Homer Hanshi 13 Middletown survived uninjured. Annual Meeting of Hospital Auxiliary in Corry

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Corry Hospital held their annual meeting in the Nurses Home with seven members present. Officers named for the coming year included Miss Tiere Blair as president and G. W. Bracken as vice president. The group discussed purchasing hospital beds, rug for the hospital, bedding, nursing graduation pins, and dining room redecorations with costs itemized for the Nurses Home and hospital areas.

Corry Man Named to Erie Presbyterian Church Union Commission

P. E. Whittlesey of Corry was named a member of a six person commission to consummate the union of Erie Presbyterian Churches. The panel includes Rev. Howard L. Metlvaine and Rev. Charles A. Highfield among others. A new Church of the Covenant will be built on West Eth between Sinase and Myrtle streets to unite the two congregations, with work starting early spring after plans are received in Cleveland on January 22.
