Tyrell Seeks a New Trial in Clergy Slaying Case
Pittsburgh January 16 Tyrell an attorney and churchman who was convicted of second degree murder for the slaying of Philip Clarke in the First Christian Church of Munhall will learn Saturday if his petition for a new trial is granted. Judge Robert A Stota of Northampton county said he will come to Pittsburgh Saturday to deliver the decision. Tyrell testified during the trial last September that he shot Clarke in self defense as Clarke threatened his life.

One Dead in Mine Blast Near Fairmont West Virginia
In Fairmont on January 16, Steve Henderson aged 30 died at the Pale mont state hospital from injuries sustained in an explosion at the Sands mine of the Continental Coal Company near the city. John B. Lenon, general mine foreman, was in critical condition and eight other miners were lightly injured while attempting to rescue Henderson from the ruins.
