Program Set To Employ 2000 In City Road Works
A city work program outlined by Streets Director Harry J. Ebebes will employ about 2000 men in 12,000 feet of repaving and widening projects plus district street improvements. Financing comes from state highway department federal and local agencies, including the Works Progress Administration and the Civil Aeronautics Authority, with work to be done mostly by private contracts. The plan includes Liberty Street from 26th to Payne and East Lake Road north side from Payne to Franklin, and West 26th Street widening from Bauer Lane to Pittsburgh Avenue from 20 feet to 40 feet with four-car lanes.
