United Press reports production at New York corporation plants is operating at 5 percent of capacity, the highest rate since last September and above the third quarter last year. The final wire covers several other items from across the country.
George Smith, 60, found in a box car in the west end yards, removed to Corry Hospital for treatment shortly before noon today. Police examination showed both feet severely frozen. The stranger is believed to have crawled into the freight car last night and spent the night there, found by a yard crew member this morning.
Coroner's jury in Oil City recommends watchmen at Maple crossing from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. after the Jensen death. Witnesses described insufficient whistle and bell warnings, with the engineer stating he rang the bell and emergency brakes, while the fireman noted the engine moved slowly. The body lay 102 feet west of the crossing, with bloodstains observed on site.
Glyde Gibson, 51, once prominent New Castle attorney and former congressional hopeful, began an 18 month term in Allegheny County Workhouse after pleading guilty to embezzlement by an agent. He faced charges from a former client Elizabeth Spence over $1,700 misappropriated to place on a mortgage.
Government forces moved to quell uprisings in Piura and Arequipa as Peru faces revolts in the north and south. Ben Sisley, longtime troublemaker in Corry, was arrested after a raid on his Barbeau place residence between Central Avenue and Spring Street. Officers seized three pints of liquor and other evidence. He waived examination and was committed to county jail in $2,000 bail. More liquor law violations and alleged sales are anticipated. A 15-year-old girl questioned by Chief Connell made serious allegations to be presented to the grand jury at the May term.

Governor Pinchot said he would defer naming unofficial observers to the House utility investigation until after the committee is organized on March 5. He did not commit to testifying before the Senate committee next Monday. Rep. D. Glen Moore said the House panel would begin hearings on the Scranton water lease, with Father J. J. Cirran of Wilkes-Barre invited to represent consumers. borough associations to be heard on March 11.

A committee was named to draft resolutions on the death of Rasselau W. Brown, a prominent club member, and WA Steinata Webo Lillott of St. Louis attended today's luncheon.
In Philadelphia a raid on the Manufacturers Club led by Public Safety Director Schofield seized over 600 quarts of champagne whiskey and imported liquors from a small party of members. Club president Maylis said officers were unaware. Director Schofield resigned from the club, and Morris expressed remorse while deflecting blame as a private matter with ministers and members.
Oil producing state Republicans pressed a last word compromise on oil embargo legislation as the Ways and Means subcommittee met to shape a plan. The proposal would cap imports at six percent of 1930 domestic production or about 94 million barrels annually for two years, with as yet no agreement reached. A second hearing was called as Rep Hoeh of Kansas spoke for independent oil producers and warned caucus unrest could follow if action stalls.
Prose cutting Attorney A. J. David of Union County New Jersey secured a statement from William Frazer of Rahway that he confessed to accidentally killing Mrs Phoebe Stader of Rahway. The incident occurred as they rode in his automobile when the 22 calibre rifle discharged.
A bandit gang robbed Hastings National Bank yesterday and fled through Hebron with a posse in pursuit. Two officers were kidnapped as the group was surrounded last night near Hastings, with Robert Hendricks under suspicion and dying from two bullet wounds. A Deputy Constable Condit led the failed capture while a bystander was wounded.
Two Endicott residents, Donald Hartman 16 and Donald Sterling 17, were arrested after suspicious behavior by Officer Brown and Flanigan. They admitted stealing about $400 worth of liquor from a New York state home, planned to sell it, and were later taken to Endicott for hearings while waived extradition.
Mayor Alexander received a note from Mrs. Catherine Welsh of Buffalo seeking information on former Corry residents linked to the Kellog family. Addie Welch, daughter of Annie and Patrick Kellog, reportedly lived at Suspension Bridge near Niagara Falls. Welsh hopes to locate Louise Sawyer, Caddie Kellog, James Kellog, dentist Charles Kellog, and dentist Thomas Kellog, asking anyone with details to contact City Clerk B. Porter.

Mrs Minnie Brown wife of Earl Brown longtime Corry resident died shortly after 1 at the Corry hospital after three weeks of hip fracture treatment from a fall on icy West Frederick Street. Born January 24 1866 in Corry she was a devoted Methodist member active in church groups. Survived by husband two sons Lloyd and Robert and daughter Miss Gertrude Brown. Funeral arrangements pending.
