The coroner will hold an inquiry Wednesday evening into the death of Thomas B. Erie county officials clarified the gasoline tax refund will not fund general expenses. Chief clerk Ralph C Benedict said the refund is obligated to meet county road bond debt under the liquid fuel tax act, despite recent questions after $71.07% was placed in a general fund and not toward road construction or maintenance.

Crawford county officials at Meadville say the Spartansburg road from the Erie county line into Spartansburg is ready to proceed once the state highway department provides funding. They note no serious delay if funds are available this year, but relocation may be needed. The hold up is state approval and allocation of Meressdy funds.
In a public ceremony on the steps of Los Angeles City Hall 131 Dr Albert Einstein was honored by Mayor Porter with an embossed resolution from the city council. Einstein said on a radio broadcast from Germany that he is unworthy of the acclaim and hopes science fosters friendly international relations across politics and all fields. He and Frau Einstein planned to sail Friday from New York to Germany.
Alexander Fox guardian of Roy Stewart 13 denies knowledge of injuries after the youth was found beaten to death in Foxs Morgantown home. District Attorney Shuman said Fox is held in jail pending inquest Friday. Autopsy found brain clots and bruising indicating gripping.
General W R Atterbury president of the Pennsylvania Railroad denied aiding political favors or manipulating contracts in a Senate Utility Committee inquiry. He said the railroad would maintain friendly relations with city and state officials and noted no coercion of employees or businessmen. He described a 1923 meeting in his Philadelphia attic with leaders and a public service commissioner, kept secret to press ahead with Philadelphia improvements.
Frank K. Hoover, 24, editor of the Lexington Herald, died from injuries after a night crash in Lexington. He was a Kentucky graduate. Werren Cunningham, the other driver, was not identified in detail. (Source notes indicate a sudden death in a car collision.)
