Charles G Lobdell an 18 year old from Pleasantville was found beside the Latrobe tracks after a train incident. His legs were crushed requiring amputation above the ankle and knee. He survived the operation and is expected to recover. His parents had just returned from Latrobe. He had been working in Johns Town area mines and was en route home when the accident occurred. A Johnstown to Titusville ticket was found in his pockets.

Police traced operators of a large distillery destroyed by fire yesterday near New Kensington. The warehouse distillery, estimated to hold about 2,000 gallons, was investigated for possible diversion of fuel. Philip Murray spoke at a luncheon here about the coal strike and related issues amid the inquiry.
Seven men trapped when a Kinlock mine explosion near New Kensington potentially left them alive or dead. Three bodies were recovered. rescue squads of fourteen teams battled 15 inches of floodwater, using air fans to vent gas as they searched flooded chambers for the missing seven. Scranton, Feb 22 Rinaldo Cappellini president of district 10 United Mine Workers will not resign his post amid internal union disputes. He plans to confer with International president John Lewis in Washington before departure. Police believe bullets that killed Frank Agatti in Wilkes-Barre were aimed at Cappellini. He has long been a central figure in district union politics.
