A 19-year-old Bear Lake youth, a prime suspect in county armed holdups, was captured near a Bear Lake barn before he could carry out a plan to kill a person who knew of his exploits. Troopers from Coveary State Police secured the scene after being notified at 3:30 pm yesterday. Officer Sir William Trwin reported the youth, armed and dangerous, was taken into custody as authorities prepared for a possible confrontation. The suspect was tracked to a James Parker farm RD 1 Bear Lake, where he allegedly planned to meet Lloyd Parker 18 to do farm chores. Mrs Juin Parker Sr witnessed his escape before the capture. Arthur McCandless 34 of Buxtur Jefferson County Pa hanged himself yesterday in Chemung County jail. He had pleaded guilty to intoxication and was named in a morals case per District Attorney Paul McCabe.

Washington AP reports Daniel Alden Reed died at Wallers Fur Hospital after 14 weeks of illness. He was 63, a longtime Republican congressman from New York's 43rd District.
