Washington February 17 The Ways and Means Committee pressed multiple tax reform proposals amid reports that Representative Boughton suggested cancelling half of 1943 income taxes to ease 35 million taxpayers into current payment. A plan discussed would erase about 30.5 billion in government revenue and replace a pay as you go system with withholding, affecting 1942 obligations and 1943 income tax.
