Treasury reports 130 security dismissals in 1953
The Treasury Department told Congress that 130 dismissals or forced resignations occurred in 1953, four of which were judged disloyal under older standards since scrapped. Four hurt in two Corry area car crashes
Four persons were injured in two weekend crashes in the Corry district. Morris W. Hilliker, 35, of Waterford, was seriously hurt when his car rolled on Route 10 south of Waterford. Beverly A. Galbreath, 27, Patricia Prell, 14, and Beverly Harmon, 24, all of Jamestown, were riding in a convertible driven by Galbreath when it struck a tree on the Corry Clymer road. The three women were treated in Corry before being released. Damage to the car was about 300 dollars.

TV Short Sparks Fire In Imperial Hotel Apartment
A television short circuit started a blaze in the apartment of Mr and Mrs John M Johnson in the former Imperial Hotel building at 9 50 pm injuring Mrs Johnson who was overcome by smoke. Firemen arrived within minutes and helped douse the flames while a physician treated Mrs Johnson with an inhalator before moving her to Corry Metal Hospital. Her condition today was reported as good and damage was confined mainly to the TV set.
