Well Known Clergyman Farmer Found Dead Near Nelson Farm

Nelson aged 82 a well known farmer near the Woutherbee farm west of gown was found dead Saturday afternoon in the yard between a building and the Jovoutne. Doctors caused by apparent sudden attack of apoplexy or ruptured blood vessel. Wife and one child survive. G B Nelson was summoned to take charge of the body. Funeral to be held Tuesday afternoon at two from the home.

Rev Shaw Announces Stance Against Immoral Shows at M E Church

Rev H C Shaw from the pulpit at First Methodist Church stated that if any gambling or immoral shows occur on Corry Fair and Driving Park grounds during the next year the case will be taken to the governor. The public note drew attention on the streets and hints of a stance at the race track pool selling and other forms of gaming. A shooting incident near Mendyvill a youth named Stern shot his father during a quarrel. the father survived and the youth confessed to police later.

Engagement of Miss Truesdell with John D Knopf

Mrs Knowlton and Mrs Griswold hosted twelve young ladies at a valentine party at Mrs Knowlton’s home on South Center Street. The engagement of Miss Madelte Catherine Truesdell of this city to John D. Trainman Hurt in Local Yards at Corry Hospital

GA Philips, an Erie railroad brakeman from Meadville, was injured in the Corry yards when he fell between a car and its buffer while a westbound train passed. He was taken by ambulance to Corry Hospital with suspected serious internal injuries including possible spinal and kidney damage. His condition was described as not yet serious, though he had a near death escape as the car narrowly missed him.

Canadian air raid was a joke in Ottawa

United Press reports that the Ottawa air raid alarms were caused by a practical joke. Morristown men sent up three firework balloons driven by a strong wind toward Ottawa, with reports then wired from Brockville to the Canadian capital.

Every Wholesale License in County Is Refused

Meadvill e, Feb 15. Crawford county court ruled all wholesale licenses for the coming year are denied. Judge Thurn Prather said seven wholesale licenses were wiped out and nine retail licenses blocked, including last year’s refusals. Brewwry and distiller licenses were denied, but jurisdiction over them was deemed lacking.
