Mull Public Defender for Crawford County
The Crawford County Community Council heard a plan for a public defender system in Crawford County. Attorney R Charles Thomas described a four assistant, one administrator office to defend needy accused persons and reduce county costs, aiming to start by year end with funding from the Bar Association and possible county and federal support.

Delay Action on Seneca Wildlife Area
Washington reports final action on acquiring land for the Seneca Division of the Erie National Wildlife Refuge has been postponed for a couple of months. The Fish and Wildlife Service's Migratory Bird Conservation Commission tabled a 31 ownership purchase of 4 497 acres in Rockdale Township to seek clarity on state ownership. Pennsylvania has already bought 1 600 acres within the proposed borders. a further 2 897 acres would be purchased from private landowners to complete the refuge. The next commission meeting date is not set but is expected within a couple of months.
