Farm Credit Administration official H. J. Lyne visited Meadville to establish a local setup for farmer loans in Corry and surrounding areas. The Meadville agency serves six northwestern PA counties with new units in Erie and Union City. Loans may cover farm operations and refinancing, with short term options of up to three years secured by personal property. Harrisburg February 12 a Democratic state senator introduced a bill to protect investors and customers by establishing true valuation of utility assets. The measure allocates 200000 dollars to set up a state department agency to determine replacement value for public utility property and a tariff basis. The Public Service Commission would be bound by the agency figures in valuing utilities, replacing market value with proportionate replacement cost for securities issued by the companies.
Albert A. Horne, 88, dean of Pittsburgh merchants and longtime head of Joseph Horne Company, died at his home after a ten day illness from pneumonia. His career spanned 65 years in Pittsburgh's retail mart, and thousands of department store customers and employees mourn his loss.
BELMONT Ohio February 12 The Taylor Tracy Terror struck again as John Dietrich 10 died last night from a mysterious malady that has claimed nine of the family’s sons over three generations. Glenn 17 died Friday after his body twisted and limbs failed. Samuel died 17 four years earlier. The line’s daughters have also suffered as five of her young and two of her nephews perished. Doctors’ efforts to halt the disease were blocked by a decision against amputation. Mrs Dietrich refused surgery and said God would decide. Death ended years of agony for John who faced the illness bravely.
